Platform in a nutshell:

1) Lobby and liase on lowering tuition until my throat and wrists are sore, leveraging my skills to do so effectively.

2) Extend co-op programs to eventually include every major.

3) Do more for off-campus students, including implementing web video and conferencing technologies.

Nobody likes to write the "morning after" update, but here goes. =) Check here for the unofficial results.

My favourite part of the elections process is the great upswell in ideas, and this week I've heard some great ones! One new idea is extending the U-Pass to summer students (though this may increase the fee by at least 50% because we'd be increasing the 8 months to the full 12 - still, some students would benefit from the ability to travel to and from their place of summer employment that much more cheaply). And windmills have even come up in discussion! Don Quixote thought that these windmills were giants, and that was silly, but whether we build real windmills or not, it is the business of universities to create people who are capable of looking at something and thinking of what it might be. Perhaps our metaphorical windmills will harvest the energy of the winds of change that are striking us all.

If you missed Wednesday night's debates, you missed a good show! All the candidates in all the nomination categories put up an incredible performance. But never fear, the debate "highlights" are available here. Don't forget about the vote on the 14th and 15th! (this coming Wednesday and Thursday)

If you're reading this, it probably means that you've seen one of my posters! Thanks so much! Don't forget to come out to the debate tonight at 7 in the McNally Theatre Auditorium! It sounds like it'll be pretty slick. I can't wait to get to know all of my opponents better - can you believe there are eight of us? Amazing! You'll definitely be able to pick the perfect candidate for VP External! <cough>

We've launched! The Will Matheson for VP External Campaign now has an official home on the web. Among other things, you'll want to check out the Facebook scene, because major things are happening there. (If you haven't registered for Facebook, I advise you do so - you don't know what you're missing! It's like hi5 and MySpace, but with features and class.)

You can hit the forums for a chat, or you can download my posters (some in colour!), and you can also read my official profile as submitted to the printed Journal and smujournal.ca.

And don't forget to attend the all-candidate's forum on Wednesday night (the 7th) at 7pm in the McNally Theatre Auditorium! Let's have a big crowd!
