PS9 - Travelings

Myself, seconds before leaving on a car trip to Boularderie Island, Cape Breton.

Highway 104 (part of the Trans-Canada), through a valley between New Glascow and Antigonish.

Highway 104 (part of the Trans-Canada), somewhere between Antigonish and Auld's Cove. By now the terrain bears a resemblance to what you might see in Cape Breton.

The infamous Scott pulp and paper mill in Abecrombie (near New Glascow), Nova Scotia, as seen from Highway 106 (part of the Trans-Canada). If you're ever in Pictou county and wonder what the smell is, this is it.

Some cormorants enjoying what's left of a pier, as seen from the Venoit Causeway that joins New Glascow and Pictou.

The Holiday Island, boarding passengers at Caribou.

Those two long lines of cars you see, they had to stay back. The boat was filled. However, the era of six-hour waits is thankfully over.

I love it when people congregate on the top deck. So many potential conversations to jump into!

Partway across the Northumberland Strait, this crazy rain cloud drifted across us. You could see it move.

The Confederation, originally a Scandanavian ferry, was the first multi-vehicle deck ferry to service Northumberland Ferries Limited's (now Northumberland and Bay Ferries Ltd.) Wood Islands - Caribou crossing. The Holiday Island was acquired from Marine Atlantic after the closure of their Borden - Cape Tormentine crossing and the opening of the Confederation Bridge.

The Wood Islands ferry terminal and surroundings, Prince Edward Island.

I wonder if that's the original factory paint on those trucks. So, according to the billboard, I am here. Good to know.
